A team of blockers from M Pleasant overwhelmed Washington at Case field winning the Little Six contest with a lopsided score of 7 to 0. Washington’s ball carriers were slowed by fierce interference, making it tough to advance and end the night with a tough loss.
Ottumwa finished its Little Six schedule undefeated by beating Fairfield 9 to 6 at Fairfield. Neither team scored until the fourth quarter and Fairfield scored first. It was Ottumwa’s first time allowing a score this season.
Coach Guy Carlton pushes a mix of sophomores and starters as Mt Pleasant’s fast backfield and strong line challenge the Washington Demons. Mr Pleasant scores early while reserves step in to keep the game tight before the page ends with a continued report.
Scaffolding rises as Washington Christian church starts interior and exterior redecorating. Rev. W. R. Foster leads the project, bringing painting and construction experience to the effort. Parishioners assist to complete work within three months at nominal cost.
In Fort Worth Texas Vice President Garner Postmaster General Farley and top Democrats gathered for the opening of a racing event and Amon Carter dinner. Hearty crowds of twenty to thirty thousand filled the track reflecting Texas Democrat strength and confidence.
The National Farm Holiday Association pushed a nationwide strike starting at noon today with no clear count of participants across 27 states. Officials expect little violence unless eviction of farmers from homes becomes necessary as national and state leaders work to manage the agricultural dispute. President Roosevelt expected to address the nation on Sunday evening.
Forty new cases have been filed with the clerk of the Washington county district court for the second fall term opening Monday. The docket includes twenty law actions, ten foreclosure suits, three partition cases, two divorce suits, one quieting title, one trusteeship, and one equity case. Divorces involve Esther L. Roberts v. Orville Roberts and Thelma Beatty v. Claire Beatty.
Pow Williams travels to Cedar Falls to deliver four talks at a district gathering of student volunteers for foreign missions. Seventeen colleges are sending incentives to attend. Williams, longtime educator and evangelist in Colombia, South America, is joined by his daughter Margarita from the State University of Iowa.

The Knights of Pythias district 7 convention meets Tuesday in Washington with an afternoon session banquet and evening program at the K P hall and YMCA. Grand Chancellor A F F Grensing of Muscatine to address delegates. Orion lodge No 75 entertains. Winga presides. banquet features Shields orchestra.
Carl Daering of Brighton underwent an appendectomy last evening at Washington County Hospital.
President Roosevelt will meet with Russian foreign minister Maxim Litvinoff at the White House in two weeks to push toward restoring relations with Soviet Russia after 16 years of diplomatic estrangement. Obstacles include wartime loans, notes, and Soviet propaganda, with experts hopeful for progress and potential benefits to U.S. trade.
Still ten tickets for the Better Washington club dinner to be held Monday evening at six at the YMCA. A. E. Atchison reports 60 tickets sold and 70 dinners ordered, with ten extras at his store for last minute attendees. John Speidel discusses Iowa tax revision and Supt. J. H. Peet reports on gross sales tax study ahead of next month’s special legislative session.
Friends and business associates of Harry Schenck the Montgomery Ward manager in our town regret his transfer to the larger Ames Iowa store. The local store will be managed by D R Pilea from the Iowa City store who will move his family there soon. Schenck will leave for Ames Sunday night and Mere Schenck and Jean will follow later.
W L Rukgaber was in Winfield on business Thursday, meeting with local contacts and visiting downtown offices during the trip.
