Rose Pleads Guilty in Drunkenness Case a Fine Imposed

E H Rose appeared before Justice Maxwell charged with drunkenness and pled guilty after discussion with Iris Honor. He was fined five dollars plus costs and given time to secure the money. failure to do so would mean jail. Rose’s troubles with his wife are noted. Also reported is the death of Will K E Carson in Allegheny from typhoid fever. Carson, a 1892 Academy graduate, excelled at Monmouth college. his funeral was attended by cousin Arthur Samson. Prof Keck, Chicago chorus leader, scheduled to conduct a city school this winter at Smouse’s Hall with urging attendance. Nearby notices promote sugar cured hams at 8 1/2c per pound and mention no longer carrying its.

Luetgert Jury Yet to Agree on Verdict in Sell Out Case

The Luetgert jury has not reached a verdict after days of deliberation in the sell out trial. Prosecutors argued the evidence showed guilt while defense contended reasonable doubt remained and the jurors resumed debate yesterday.

Death of Mrs. Melee Near Columbus Junction

Mrs. Melee of north of Columbus Junction died last night at her parents’ home in South Washington after a week of illness. She was 22, survived by a husband and five week old child. Funeral tomorrow at 8:30 at the Orr residence with burial in Columbus City cemetery.
