Nancy Linch, Oregon’s only woman mechanic, pursues career
Nancy Linch, daughter of Madras residents, stands out as Central Oregon’s only woman auto mechanic. A 972 Madras High School graduate and student body president, she works at a filling station, attends Central Oregon Community College, and plans further training. She handles pumps, lube jobs, oil changes, tires, and diagnostic work while pursuing her dream of owning a shop. Her family remains in teaching and libraries as she navigates skepticism, dirtied hands, and studies in engineering and sports car repair.
