Washington high school's marching band earned a top rating at the state contest in Ottumwa on Saturday. Drum majorettes Charlotta Whitlow and Carla Benell earned high honors in baton and flag events. Funeral service held for Roe Hankins in Columbus Junction
Funeral services for Roe Hankins age 64 of Columbus Junction were conducted at 2 PM in Stephens funeral home with Rev. E. R. Mitchell presiding. Hankins died Saturday at Mercy hospital Iowa City after an October 11 operation leaving a widow a daughter three grandchildren and two brothers. He was a longtime Columbus Junction band member and a member of the Elks and Moose lodges of Muscatine. Dr. Orvis Irwin will address a Lincoln PTA meeting on the home issues parents face with bare sandwiches or pie requested from attendees.
