Subpoena Served on Mafia Leader Tramunti in Brooklyn Probe

Iowa Farm Bureau backs grain alcohol as motor fuel

Kenneth Langer, research director for the Iowa Farm Bureau, urged the legislature to back continued study of grain alcohol as motor fuel. The group endorsed the program, noting Iowa farmers seek new industrial uses of corn to create markets. Production would not solve surplus immediately, but would be a step forward.

Brighton Votes Curfew To Curb Late Night Loitering

The Brighton town council unanimously approved a nightly curfew aimed at reducing vandalism and loitering. The ordinance bans under 15s on public property after 10 30 p m and 15 to 18 year olds after midnight with limited exceptions, and restricts all ages in parks and cemeteries after midnight.

Honorary 4-H Members Named in Washington County

Mrs. George Colthurst of Ainsworth and Duane White of Ainsworth were named Honorary 4-H members and initiated at the Washington County 4-H Convention. Keokuk County Audit Details Alleged Irregularities

State Auditor Lloyd Smith reports irregularities totaling 514 530 in Keokuk County funds under former Clerk of Court Robert Shannon. The 19 month review found 2 009 missing in fines and fees, 12 521 unaccounted for in trust funds, nine alleged forgeries totaling 5081, and incomplete records hindering item identification. Shannon resigned August 22 after the audit covering Jan 1 1971 to Aug 22 1972.

Anderson pledges firm law enforcement in county race

Tracy Anderson, candidate for Washington County Attorney, told Wellman residents at the Legion Hall that if elected he will back strong law enforcement. He urged proper criminal justice and welfare system administration and said he would open a county attorney office in the courthouse and support local law enforcement. He spoke after a Mid-Prairie football game chili supper fundraiser.

Nixon aides accuse McGovern of dirtiest tactics

Spokesmen for President Nixon charge McGovern used some of the dirtiest tactics and most offensive language in a campaign. McGovern says Republicans hired 50 people to sabotage the Democratic effort as Nixon visits the National League of Families of Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia in Washington.
