State Auditor Lloyd Smith reports irregularities totaling 514 530 in Keokuk County funds under former Clerk of Court Robert Shannon. The 19 month review found 2 009 missing in fines and fees, 12 521 unaccounted for in trust funds, nine alleged forgeries totaling 5081, and incomplete records hindering item identification. Shannon resigned August 22 after the audit covering Jan 1 1971 to Aug 22 1972.
Anderson pledges firm law enforcement in county race
Tracy Anderson, candidate for Washington County Attorney, told Wellman residents at the Legion Hall that if elected he will back strong law enforcement.
