The Washington County Farm Bureau met at St. James School with Robert Jones presiding. James Helmick of Columbus Junction urged farmers to pursue education amid a shrinking farming population. Members adopted 1964 resolutions on taxes, school aid, vocational education, daylight saving time, hunting restrictions, and farm policy. Tom McAvoy, injured in a roof fall, is recovering without broken bones.

Stanley Woeste, and Mrs. Maxine Elliott.

Stabbing Aboard Train Leads to Arrests at Junction
In Columbus Junction Iowa a Chicago Burlington & Quincy train stop ended with a stabbing. Robert P Troff 23 of St Paul Minnesota was hospitalized in Iowa City in fair condition with abdominal wounds. Edward Allen Lee 32 Cedar Rapids was detained and to be charged with assault with intent to do great bodily injury. A second unnamed white man faced intoxication and disturbing the peace charges. Police say the men were drinking and taunted Lee before the scuffle occurred.
