Two prowlers entered the J. Finney home through a bedroom window and stole 18 dollars while guests played cards in a front room. Mr Finney arrived to see them run into an alley and disappear.
Ottumwa reports Fred Nelson a 50 year old window washer died from a fractured skull after falling from a second story window at the Ottumwa Production Credit Corp office. He was a veteran window washer with prior work.
Orville Shrock 79 collapsed and died while approaching the cashier to pay a tax bill in Johnson County treasurer's office. Physicians cited heart disease. He was a retired laborer, unmarried with no near relatives.
SHENANDOAH. Otha Wearin congressman for Iowa's seventh district told a KMA radio jubilee audience that shifting post election problems stalled legislation. He promised that regardless of corn yield the price will not be allowed to fall to 24 or 30 cents a bushel again.
Burlington report says Frank Goff received thirty days in jail after a police court appearance for striking his wife. He testified she bit his thumb during the fight and his thumb pulled free caused her false teeth to come out. Mrs Gett admitted biting claiming her teeth were the only weapon she used as he allegedly struck her. Goff said he merely slapped with his knuckles. She showed badly discolored eyes.
Des Moines Bookbindery Co. was declared in default of its three year binding contract by the Iowa printing board. Atty Gen. John T. Mitchell said the board asked Continental Casualty Co. to fulfill the contract after complaints from Iowa State College and the University of Iowa about substandard binding work.
Noah H. Falb, a local grocer, bought a $200 lot and built a house before realizing the plot belongs to the Marshalltown Independent School District. He proposes to buy the land from the district and cover the costs of a spring special election to decide if the land can be sold.
Walter M. Davis, former Iowa City attorney now living in Omaha, Nebraska, applied to the Iowa Supreme Court for reinstatement of his license. He was disbarred several years ago and was formerly with the Wade, Dutcher & Davis firm. A hearing will be before the court’s full bench at its next meeting.
Floyd Danks a 17 year old from Rhannelis was released to his parents after prosecutors found no law to charge him for attempting a lunchroom robbery with a pocketbook containing $15. He surrendered with his parents after newspapers revealed his identity and police returned the money.
President Roosevelt expressed hope that the forthcoming parley of six power treaty signatories may end the war in China. The session will include a U S representative and China and Japan as part of mediation efforts cited in the fireside chat.

Police raided the Red Ball Inn in Iowa City seizing about fifty half pints of Illinois and Iowa liquor plus several quarts of rum whiskey and gin and several bottles of beer. The raid reduced illegal sales as officers stated the heat was on.
Richard Stephens, a Washington county stockman from near Ainsworth, sent a carload of his own hogs to the Chicago market. The 4% head drove sold unsorted at the extreme top price of $11.15 per hundredweight.
