U P Home plans new building on grounds in Washington
Plans for a new United Presbyterian Home annex near the main building in Washington were outlined during the 18th anniversary program held Thursday. The proposed two story structure would add 22 single rooms and four apartments, plus space for offices, lounge, and recreation areas with an elevator. Final construction details will be discussed at a future U P Home board meeting. The event drew 150 to 200 attendees, with 125 at lunch and 105 at the afternoon program led by Dr. Gaylord M Couchman of Dubuque University. Five Home family members led guided tours of cottages and recent developments. Rites are pending for infant twins Richard Dale Shaffer and Paula Darlene Shaffer of Keota, born October 14 and died October 15 at Washington County Hospital. Surviving parents are Richard Dale and Darlene Bandy Shaffer. grandparents Eugene and Alice Bandy, and Dale and Mrs Shaffer. great grandmother Mrs. Alice Shaffer. Powell Funeral Home, Keota, is handling arrangements.
