Elderly man injured in Washington two-car crash
An 87 year old Washington man, Perry L. Jordan, was hospitalized after a collision at East Sixth Street and North Fourth Avenue when his car ran a stop sign. The crash, involving Randy L. Albright, 17, caused about 1600 dollars in damages. A second wreck on West Madison Street involved M. Wayne Johanson, 17, and Clyde O. Knight, 60, with 1100 dollars total damage. Jordan faces a charge of disobeying a stop sign. Johanson charged with failure to stop in an assured clear distance.

Plane crash injures three in Moulton Iowa
Three Moulton men were hurt when a Ryan Navion light plane crashed two miles south and one mile east of Moulton Airport in Appanoose County. Wayne Bassett, 48, owner of the local weekly, Gary Harris, 33, grocer, and Randy Harris, 21, were taken to Davis County Hospital with Bassett and Randy Harris in critical condition and Gary Harris in guarded condition.

Three OSU Students Die In Fraternity Display Accident
Six people were handling a 30 foot scaffold near the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity house when it touched 200 volt power lines outside Stillwater Oklahoma State University. Three students were killed and three injured, all from OSU, with police noting names of the dead were being withheld pending relatives notification. The injured were hospitalized as frater nity members had worked through the night on the display.

Children’s House seeks bigger, busier community daycare
The Children’s House on East Washington Avenue reports a crowded start to fall after a busy summer that sent about 20 school-age children to Stewart School annex and about as many preschoolers to the center. Staffing changes include new directors Pat Roberts and Pat Jenkins, with Ruth Karn running a home preschool. funding and space constraints limit after school care and require a larger facility and improved playground. Washington High choirs travel for Southeast Vocal Festival
The Washington High School choirs will travel to Keokuk Iowa on Tuesday October 18 to take part in the Southeast Seven Conference Vocal Festival. Directed by guest conductor Robert Hills from Western Illinois University the massed choirs will perform Gloria by Vivaldi and pieces by Vaughan Williams Ness Beck Luboff Dello Joio and Erb. A conference choir of auditioning all state students will share the program alongside the main concert open to the public with tickets 1.50 for adults and 1 for students.
