Special to Evening Journal reports a sensational incident in Chicago where a man allegedly killed another for money. The item appears among a broad mix of market notes and national dispatches including political and labor developments from Paris, Washington, and Denver.
A special train carrying two carloads of black miners was prevented from landing at Virden by orders from Governor Tanner. Troops blocked disembarkation, protesters gathered, and the train was sent toward Girard as legal action looms. The incident sparks further prosecutions and a looming Alton Road versus state dispute.
