Community Action Committee elected in Washington County
About a hundred citizens in Washington County elected a 24 member Community Action Committee to cooperate with Johnson County in surveying poverty needs and opportunities. Members from public life health education welfare business religious labor farm and minority interests and participant groups were named, with a nominating committee restricting floor nominations. The 24 will select four members to join four Johnson County reps to plan the next action step.

Missing University of Iowa coed sought by authorities
Iowa City and state authorities are seeking Patricia Ann Madden an 18 year old University of Iowa coed. Madden the daughter of Lawrence Madden Iowa City's public works director withdrew 300 dollars Friday and her purse coat and one shoe were found along the Iowa River bank near the campus. The missing money was not in the purse.

Auto insurance rates rise in Iowa tied to crash costs
In Iowa the National Bureau of Casualty Underwriters and the National Automobile Underwriters Association report higher auto insurance premiums.
