Fairfield man killed in one car crash near Ainsworth
Ronald L. Clayton 37 of Fairfield died en route to Washington County Hospital after a one car rollover on highway 92 near the 218 junction. Patrolman Cal Dorsett reported the 5:30 p.m. crash, Clayton was alone in the westbound car and was tossed from the vehicle. He had moved to Fairfield in August from Streator Illinois.

Wolf Attack Leaves Girl Injured Near South Lake Tahoe
A four year-old girl, Shelli Crum of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., remains in serious condition at Washoe Medical Center after a wolf used in a wildlife film attacked her. Deputies say two wolves wandered from the Tahoe Paradise set near South Lake Tahoe, prompting the incident.

Three 16 year old girls injured in Washington car crash
Three 16 year old Washington girls were treated at Washington County Hospital after a one car accident on West Madison Street at 11 41 p m. Linda Marie Peiffer said she lost control after leaving the Drug Fair parking lot and struck the gas pedal. The car crossed the street and hit the Randy Reighard house causing $200 damage to the residence and $1 000 to the car. Barb Reighard suffered facial cuts Kathy Richards a head laceration and Julie Carra a cut on the ear lobe. None were seriously injured.

Mexico uncovers rich Gulf oil fields, reports say
The Washington Post says Mexico struck very rich oil formations in the Gulf of Mexico that may hold up to 20 billion barrels of high grade oil in three fields about 800 miles south of Houston. A government source suggests Ford and Echeverria will discuss the oil in their Oct. 21 border meeting.

Two Women Die in Separate Iowa Vehicle Crashes
