New Pastor Frank Dunn Arrives at First Baptist Washington

The Rev Frank E Dunn Jr new pastor at the First Baptist Church in Washington will lead services for the first time Sunday October 15 His sermon topic is On Target Dunn and his wife Sandy and two sons David and Jeff reside at 802 East Harrison Street A social hour with light fare follows at 6 p m Dunn previously led the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne Wyoming since October 1968 He was ordained in September 1969 Dunn is a Brooklyn native who grew up in Los Angeles and has been active in regional religious education groups.

School board plans district changes and new building

Washington Community School District discusses possible new director districts and a replacement administration building with no action yet taken. If approved, new directors would be elected for a July 1 1973 start. A special election would precede final approval.

Trio con Brio to perform for Washington Concert Association

The Trio con Brio performs Friday at 8:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium for an audience oriented program. The ensemble includes Elaine Eagle on flute and Rolf Sovik on cello with pianist and director Eileen Reagan selecting works. Solo pieces will feature all three performers alongside classical selections and movie theme music from Love Story, Summer of 42 and The Godfather.

Two men arraigned in Johnston drug raid case

DES MOINES UPI reports two men arrested in a $20,000 Johnston drug raid were to be arraigned in Polk County District Court on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Kissinger silent after four days of Paris peace talks

Kissinger left Paris for Washington after four days of talks with Le Duc Tho and Xuan Thuy with no comments to reporters. The White House said he would report to Nixon that night, and no further meetings were planned. The Paris talks held their 163rd session with little apparent progress as Hanoi and Paris condemned U S air raids and urged a tripartite cabinet after Thieu's dismissal.

County Corn and Soybean Yields Reported for 1971 72

County records show 2,260,000 bushels of corn on 57,260 acres with all time county highs. State corn yield averaged 102 bushels per acre in 1971, while 1972 harvests suggest county corn will stay above 100 but below last year, and soybean acres may rise with similar yields.

United Presbyterian Home marks 25 years with reminiscences
