Charles L. Cook of Clinton posed as a Federal Relief office official and promised jobs in exchange for a $28 cash bond. He collected several bonds before being jailed.
Mrs Ed Morehead of Telinots City died at Hershey hospital Muscatine from burns she suffered when kerosene spilled into a stove to kindle the fire. The can she used exploded and caused the injuries.
A case was filed in Burlington by the State Trust and Savings Bank of Mt Pleasant seeking judgment for 3042 dollars plus interest from November 21, 1922 and costs of 229 dollars. The action targets the Tlowa Des Moines Methodist conference.
Iowa State College reports a near doubling of new students in the agriculture division led by Dean H. H. Kildee. Freshman enrollment reached 371 this fall, up from 190 last year, with forestry showing the sharpest rise from 34 to 99 students.

A hold up man named Robert Riley was arrested for the murder of Max Sjoblom an automobile engineer from Davenport. A jury found Riley guilty this week and he was sentenced to the electric chair in November. The crime was described as a cold blooded affair.
Mrs Alex Miller reports a drop in highway tolls in Iowa with the uniform patrol saving lives and reducing serious injuries. August accident figures show seven fewer deaths and a 39 percent fall in serious injuries compared with last August, plus fourteen fewer deaths versus July.

Colfax Iowa Oct 12 d M Lewis Hurst 23 of Pittsfield New Jersey was crushed to death by a Swift Co truck. He was removing a block from in front of a wheel as the machine was parked on a hill and when he pulled the block out the truck started up and passed over his body.
Oct 12 report states Pine's garage and Kingsbury Inn were broken into early Wednesday. Cash was taken from both premises and a 193 Chevrolet was stolen from the garage. Gasoline was siphoned from several cars at a nearby high school event.
West Chester held a Republican meeting in the high school gym yesterday evening. A gas blast at the Central cold storage plant on Chicago's north side killed two men, John Gania and John Kilgora, and wounded more than a dozen as bystanders were hit. A commission house beside the plant was wrecked and a passerby lost an arm.

Mi and Mrs Ww Clark of Mystic Iowa were injured and taken to a West Chester garage after their car collided with a vehicle driven by D. R. Munro northwest of West Chester at the intersection of primary roads 2 and 81. Munro and his two daughters escaped serious injury.
