Ghosts terrorize Indiana home in Osceola reports

In Osceola Indiana Walter Szlanfucht reports an unseen force moves furniture throws pebbles and causes objects to fly. Police captain witnessed a picture fly off a wall and a heavy ashtray shatter. Relatives report similar phenomena at nearby home raising questions of haunting or unusual activity.

Washington County CAP Elects Directors at Annual Meeting

The first annual meeting of the Washington County Community Action Program elected six directors for three year terms and named officers for the coming year including Mrs. Day as president and Dr Pa McAndrew as vice president. A tentative November 3 start for the high school equivalency course was announced along with readying plans for day care and youth employment programs across four counties. The next Kingston County CAP meeting is slated for October 24.

Two Widely Separated UFO Sightings Reported in Fort Thompson

Reports from New Jersey and South Dakota describe two unidentified flying objects seen Monday night. In Fort Thompson the bluish light hovered over Crow Creek Reservation, then moved east as a second light appeared and appeared to rotate its lights, according to witnesses including Kanabeera Roger Huston and Patrick Gribbin.

UFO SIGHTINGS REPORTED NEAR FORT THOMPSON AND WANAQUE

Reports from Fort Thompson describe a large white object that shifted colors from white to bluish green to red and sized about three times brighter stars. Nearby in Wanaque New Jersey five witnesses including three policemen saw a bright hovering light near the reservoir, one officer noting the object dimmed when he turned on his patrol car red light.

Mother and four children die in upstairs fire

In Peabury Massachusetts a mother Arlene Beechim and her four children Ernest five Scott one Julie four and infant Mark four months died as fire swept a two story wooden home. Police said the mother rushed upstairs to try to save the youngsters as flames raced through the house.

Death camp found as American troops overrun jungle prison

UPI reports American forces swept through a central coastal jungle area and uncovered 12 inmates chained and butchered by fleeing North Vietnamese guards. Col Archie Hyle called it the Viet Congs death camp after discovering a blood smeared pit with seven survivors among the corpses.

Governor Hughes to visit U P Home for public event

Public invited as Governor Hughes plans a 9:30 a m welcome in a heated tent at United Presbyterian Home Washington. Daylong activities include a festival of fun ice cream sale and apple peeling with 90 gallons donated by Kiwanis, corn husking and an auction opening at 9:30 a m Wednesday and continuing to Thursday.

Murray calls for police academy in Iowa race

Republican governor candidate William G. Murray urged creation of a police academy to train new and existing officers amid Supreme Court rulings. He argued for a statewide plan to curb disturbances, accusing Governor Hughes of having a secret plan and failing to implement it during last week’s riot at Harlan.

McNamara press calls for more U.S. troops in Vietnam

Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, on a four day fact finding mission to South Vietnam, met with Gen Nguyen Van Thieu and Gen Nguyen Cao Ky and heard requests for more American fighting men. Sources say commanders urged increasing U.S. troop strength above 360000, with current levels near 20000 and a tour of fighting units planned for Wednesday.

The Washington County 4 H Convention is set for Saturday October 15 at 7 30 p m in the Washington High School auditorium. Members will vote by clubs for a 10 member County Council and candidates will answer questions about their 4 H experiences.
