Washington reports that the National Recovery Administration plans immediate public hearings to curb profiteering by manufacturers under fair competition codes. General Johnson warned against unfair price hikes during June to August, with retailers accusing producers of stockpiling and inflating prices as codes near approval.
The University of Iowa football team concentrates on the homecoming game with Wisconsin on Oct. 21 after a Northwestern win. Iowa leads the conference race with a perfect record entering homecoming, as the program plans two more weeks of prep with Dr. Clarence Spears and the Dodgers in control.

A fire consumed the new Royal Canadian Signal Corps radio station at Cameron Bay in the Great Bear Lake mineral field. The facility had operated since May and loss is estimated at 25000 dollars with no replacement plans announced by government authorities.
