The twelfth annual central divisional conference of the Open Bible Standard churches opened in Waterloo at the Church of the Open Bible. presiding pastor Rev. L. E. Welshons of Des Moines led the opening. Speakers include Rev. Russell B. E. Pope of Waterloo and Rev. Frank Smith of Des Moines.
Seventy seven state highway patrolmen and eleven patrol sergeants received a monthly pay raise retroactive to October 1. Patrolmen rise to 160 dollars a month and sergeants to 185 dollars. This is the first increase since May 1943 when a 15 dollar raise was granted.

Thousands of Jews armed with clubs and stones resisted a British soldiers and police raid on the Montefiore quarter in Tel Aviv. The British reportedly ordered no fire and withdrew after about 45 minutes without locating the suspected arms cache. Casualties were not immediately known.
