Illegal Whisky Found At Ft Dodge Residence

Escaped Convicts Given Thirty Year Hard Labor Terms
Three of four convicts who joined the New Year’s Day break at the state men’s reformatory received 30 years at hard labor in the state penitentiary at Fort Madison, Iowa, by District Judge Floyd Philbrick. Ralph Cassidy drew five years. Bryl Brown and Steve Ratcliff got 0-year terms after last week’s assault with intent to commit murder conviction. Cassidy was convicted of attempted manslaughter. Des Moines attorney Don ald P. Holdoegel 43 of 6008 Harwood drive died at Broadlawns Contagious hospital Monday night from infantile paralysis. He had worked the day before hospitalization after leg and chest pains. His wife Ferne Holdoegel said he had little vacation in three years and was exhausted from overwork. He was the original appointee to the district's OPA enforcement attorney.

Brighton Soldier Dies of His Wounds
Mrs. Elizabeth Arndt of Jefferson County received a telegram about the death of her son Joseph F F Arndt technician first grade who died from wounds received in action in Germany on September 16. He had served since 1942 and overseas since February of this year. He was 36 and survived by his mother and several siblings. A memorial service is planned at St. Joseph's Catholic church in East Pleasant Plain next Monday at ten.
