Boy Struck by Work Train in New London

Charles Grandee, a fifteen year old boy and grandson of Mr. Wm. Reed, was struck by a westbound work train while crossing the tracks. The wagon was torn apart and he was badly injured with broken ribs. The incident suggests a lack of whistle signals at the station. recovery prognosis is doubtful.

Horse Sale Totals Viewed At Donahey Auction

Clerk Rogers notes the M. P. Donahey sale yesterday sold twenty horses at an average of about $70 each. Notable names include Donahey's Idol Rubellite Sylva D. Rosero D. Sioux Chief Cuyler Idler among bidders D. W. Miller W. I. Small McCullough Wm. Jester and Jake White.

Washington County Schools Annual Report Shows Stable Growth

The county superintendent reports 6189 school aged residents, 4808 total enrollment, and 38283 average attendance, with 17 schools and 166 teachers, including 41 graded teachers and 125 ungraded. Life and state certificates held by several local teachers are noted as well.
