The United Nations General Assembly Social Committee voted 34 to 6 with abstentions against a Soviet plan to force global press exposure of supposed warmongers and to punish media for alleged libel and misstatements. The proposal sought state oversight and penal sanctions for owners of newspapers deemed untruthful and for those accused of warmongering.

Stolen Car Recovered in Highland Township
A car reported stolen from Paul O’Connor of Mt. Pleasant was found abandoned in Highland township. It had been stolen Saturday night and was located by farmer Frank Mincer. Deputy Sheriff Walter Kiesey delivered the vehicle to Washington today.
