Funeral Service for James S. Wilson Held in City Home
The funeral of James Schenck Wilson, aged 37, killed Saturday when struck by a Burlington freight train, was conducted at 2:30 p.m. at his brother W. W. Wilson’s North Town Avenue home by Rev. F. W. Eastwood. Interment followed in Woodlawn cemetery. Pallbearers were Spanish American War comrades James Baird, Harry Crone, Hugh McCleery, C. Wilson, Milan Shields, and Dr. W. B. Crooks. He was born February 22, 1876, and lived in this city all his life. Surviving are sister Nellie, brother W. W., and another sister Mrs. Henry Shepherd of Davenport. He served in the Spanish American War and worked with his brother in the W. W. Wilson coal and ice business. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and a quiet, helpful figure in the family’s business.
