Fifteen board members and service chairman attended the Washington County Red Cross meeting at the chapter office Thursday evening. Clarence Logan chaired the session. Mrs. Mike Berns spoke on the summer swim program and Mrs. Ralph Martin described VA hospital volunteer work in Iowa City. One-car crash north of Wayland injures passenger
A one car accident north of Wayland injured passenger Richard Gaylord after a car in front pulled into the Wayland blacktop. Thomas W. Tipton of Mt. Pleasant, driving south, swerved and rolled the car into a roadside ditch. The other vehicle sped away. Tipton and the other passenger sustained noncritical injuries.

Car Tractor Collision Near Wellman Injures Farmer
A car rear ended a tractor three miles south of Wellman on highway 81 at about 7 a.m. injuring 55 year old farmer James Harold Murphy of Wellman. He is listed in fair condition at Mercy Hospital Iowa City with cuts and bruises. Murphy’s tractor broke into three pieces along 383 feet. Lyle V. Miller, 22, of Webster, was driving the other vehicle and was released after examination by Dr J. Miller Wellman. No charges filed as sheriff’s officers investigate.
