Agriculture Dept Urges 4 Million Acre Wheat Increase

The Agriculture Department urged U S farmers to raise wheat sowing by 4 000 000 acres next year aiming for a 75 095 000 acre wheat goal and 2 458 000 acres of rye to meet urgent world food demands despite concerns over soil conservation. If yields hold, this would yield a fourth straight 1 000 000 000 bushel wheat crop.

Cadet Bodies Found After Five Years In Sierra Glacier

Four air force cadets reported missing on a November 1942 training flight were found on an 18 700 foot Darwin glacier in the high Sierras. The wreckage was spotted by University of California student William Bond during a mountain climb. An army unit led by Capt. Robert Lewis and Capt.
