The Agriculture Department urged U S farmers to raise wheat sowing by 4 000 000 acres next year aiming for a 75 095 000 acre wheat goal and 2 458 000 acres of rye to meet urgent world food demands despite concerns over soil conservation. If yields hold, this would yield a fourth straight 1 000 000 000 bushel wheat crop.
C. A. Hershberger a prominent Mennonite layman from Kalona will speak at the United Presbyterian Brotherhood meeting next Monday evening. A dinner at 6 30 will precede the address in the church dining room and all men of the congregation are urged to attend.

Charles Weber of Ainsworth reported to the sheriff that a nighttime collision damaged his parked car on the street. A hubcap was recovered near the Weber vehicle, indicating the other car left the scene.
The YMCA invites boys interested in stamp collecting in Washington to call the Y and provide their name. They will be notified when the group starts.

Mrs Clarence Priness led the session as reservations reached 309 for the turkey luncheon served by the Woman's Society of Christian Service with Mrs E E Stutsman as general chairman.
Supervisor Ned Morrow said a favorable action from the state highway commission on shifting primary road between Washington and Brighton seems likely after a delegation to Ames. The plan would move the route north from Brighton toward Dul in road and then east to highway 92, with a survey required if adopted.

Four air force cadets reported missing on a November 1942 training flight were found on an 18 700 foot Darwin glacier in the high Sierras. The wreckage was spotted by University of California student William Bond during a mountain climb. An army unit led by Capt. Robert Lewis and Capt. A J Walton recovered the remains and the plane from the treacherous glacier after a prior search was halted. The crew: pilot W R Gamber and cadets Engen Munn L M Mustonen John M Mortenson.
