Word has arrived of the death of Conde Gallagher Rag uet of Davenport a former hardware merchant in Washington last Wednesday. Born in 1849 in Jamesville Ohio he came to Davenport in 1868 and later moved to Washington with Frances May Dodge. He operated a hardware business on the north side of the square and later lost his sight in an automobile accident years ago. He leaves three children Roy deceased 1912 Marguerite Meyers of Central America and Commander E G Raguet USN stationed in Washington DC. He kept in touch with Washington people and remained a paper subscriber until his death.
Des Moines Iowa October 1 Republican candidate George W Patterson charges the Democratic administration used state funds and printing facilities for a fall campaign. He cited a 12 page Democratic e campaign pamphlet mailed with quarterly sales tax forms and labeled tax questions. He said the pamphlet is partisan propaganda and should have been paid from party funds.
Nim Clark longtime Crawfordsville resident and former livery barn owner died Saturday night after a prolonged illness. He drove school buses for 26 years and was famed for wit and kindness. He is survived by wife Gertrude Whyte, two sons Ernest and Lloyd, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 30 p m at the Methodist church with Rev E S Hebner officiating and burial in Crawfordsville cemetery.

Mrs Robert Taeger of Burlington has returned home after two weeks with her parents Mr and Mrs W C Lamansky.
The John Desing estate farm home, a ten room two miles southwest of Wellman, burned Saturday evening about 8 30. The Henry Wilkins family tenants were away in town. four children were in the home. They will live in the garage temporarily while Mrs Potsander arranges a new smaller house on the 163 acre farm. Insurance with Washington county Farm Mutual covered contents valued at 695 dollars. Fire appeared to start in the dining room with a kitchen stove fire as a possible origin.
The Evangelistic meeting at the Christian church ended with the largest crowd of the three weeks. James T. Nichols spoke at morning, afternoon, and evening services, and Mrs. Nichols attended. The church thanks all who helped, including contributions of service, flowers, and money, and credits the Journal and its staff for publicity.
