The 49th International Livestock Exposition opens in Chicago with 12 500 entries including cattle horses pigs and poultry. Prize money totals 100 000 with blue ribbons and cups. judging in the Jolly International Amphitheater and broadcast via four Chicago TV stations.
Washington County National Farm Loan association announces Earl Tiny Cummings as new secretary treasurer effective December 1. He replaces George Umphey after six years in the post and as field man, with Cummings residing in Fairfield and in his office Fridays above the National Tea Food store. Board members are Elmer H. Steele, Howard Anderson, Ira L. Mikseh, J Homer Vincent, and Arthur E. Boshart Wayland. Umphey has bought an abstract office in Centerville.
Marriage licenses were issued at the court house this morning. The action confirms new unions and records names of the couples as they appeared for the proceedings.

Duke born January 4 1877 near Iowa City. survived by wife Lilly Edwards two daughters Gladys Crossan Ada Meier four grandchildren one great grandchild one brother Ed Duke three sisters and one infant son was deceased.
