The committee reduced the bill to 6 billion for 1910 and the motor license tax was deemed unnecessary. A blast of oil distilleri at Crescent plant of the Crucible Steel company caused a fire that damaged about half the plant. About two hundred workers were in the facility when the explosion occurred and all escaped unharmed except one slightly burned.
