The Iowa State Highway Commission says highway 92 west of West Chester is finished and should reopen today. A Union Thanksgiving Service is planned for Thursday November 27 at 10 00 a m in United Methodist Church Washington with Rev Leland Grove William Jones Rev Clarence Dehne and music by Hand Bell Choir Marion Avenue Presbyterian and a vocal trio. All welcome to give thanks this Thanksgiving Day.

Nixon signs historic lottery draft law
Washington UPI reports President Nixon signed a measure ending the draft by lottery as the first lottery system since World War II. The plan starts January with a one year exposure and a random order of birth dates. A second drawing will create a new alphabet for last names. Moon rocks arrive as Apollo 12 samples inspected
Space Center Houston weighs 29 pounds of lunar material from the Apollo 12 box opened in the vacuum chamber. Astronauts Conrad Bean and Gordon collected 80 to 90 pounds of moon dirt and rocks during two days on the Ocean of Storms. Apollo 11 yielded 48 pounds of basalt and breccias with glass beads. Viet Minh attack near Cambodian border tanks hit

Zacek case seeks evidence in murder probe
