Des Moines reports J R Petterle of the state employment security commission says employment from war industry is near its peak and claims are at a low ebb while the commission plans to expand quickly if demand rises. The agency paid a monthly low of 10 251 in unemployment claims to eligible residents, while unemployment tax collections run well ahead of outgo.

Sioux City bomber crash kills three sergeants

Prominent Dubuque Banker Dies After Illness
Ralph W. Blair 60 longtime executive vice president of the Dubuque Bank and Trust Co and former state bank examiner died at his home after months of heart disease. He will lie in state after Masonic services and be buried in West Bend Iowa. Born June 11 1883 in Hardin County Iowa Blair was a Friends Church member and had worked as agent and telegrapher for the Keck Island railroad before entering banking in 1925.
