Lone Tree Building Destroyed by Fire

Driver Held in Jail Following Collision
Claude A. Armbruster of route two Riverside was jailed after a collision on highway No 218 at 11 20 Wednesday night. He allegedly drove on the wrong side in heavy fog five miles south of the Riverside junction and was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Wesley V Hart of Cambria Iowa could not see the oncoming car and the Hart auto suffered about $800 damage. Two Des Moines passengers were treated for minor injuries.

Fire at Duane Griggs residence causes smoke and fire damage
Heavy smoke damage and some fire damage were reported at the Duane Griggs house on South Third. Firemen were summoned about 6 o clock this morning. The blaze started near the furnace stoker and badly burned some partitions. Faulty wiring is believed to have caused the fire. Firemen prevented spread to other parts of the home.
