Abe Johnson, 29, a Sioux City painter, went to the city jail to visit a friend and reportedly struck a municipal court bailiff, and was imprisoned in connection with the alleged assault.
Marshalltown police arrested Mrs Homer Stegall for interfering with City Physician R S Grossman who said she refused to let him investigate a nurse's charges that a contagious disease case was believed in the home.
Mark Piper a 33 year old farmer near LeClaire was bitten on the hand by his pet monkey while playing with it. He was brought to Mercy Hospital for treatment.
A 60 carload shipment of prime cattle, valued at 175000 dollars, left here en route to the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago Til. It is described as the largest consignment of its kind ever loaded from a single shipping point in the United States, representing the season's peak feeding by local farmers who claim national leadership in prime cattle production.
