State Welfare Board Seeks 20 Million More For Aid Programs
Des Moines reports that the board of social welfare requests 20,045,000 dollars for the next two fiscal years to cover rising old age assistance and aid to dependent children payments. Auditor Tracy Wisgerhof cites higher case numbers and higher average payments. He projects increases to 61.05 per old age case by June 1961 and 52,850 cases by July 1951. The request also includes 17,500,000 annualized for the 1951-53 biennium and calls for state administration of aid programs. Secretary Harry J. Linn seeks 1,388,000 dollars, up 204,386.
