Eye bank saves youth sight via donated eye
Steve Putman, a University of Iowa senior from Washington, received major eye surgery at Mercy Hospital to repair a detached retina. Surgeons used a donated eye from the Iowa Eye Bank at University Hospitals, and progress is hopeful. The Lions Clubs of Iowa fund the Eye Bank, which seeks more donors and coordinates donor cards via Robert Miller, Richard Dare, Ruth Fisher, and Iowa Eye Bank staff.

Iowa Guard reorganizes units across state effective 1968
The Washington National Guard will realign to form the 134th Medical Company Ambulance and the 109th Medical Battalion with Major Clifford M. Bell commanding in Iowa City and Washington. Iowa officials say nine company units will be dissolved, over 200 posts will be cut, and 8,300 members retained through attrition over three years. New units include an infantry brigade in Boone and an Iowa Emergency Operations HQ in Des Moines. Maj. Gen. Frank P. Williams will lead the reorganized guard.

UPI reports Havana radio says plans to return two pilots after their twin engined Piper Apache was seized at gunpoint and forced to Cuba by a so called Russian. Evacuation by Helicopters as Hill 875 Battle Rages
U S helicopters evacuated American casualties from Hill 875 near Dak To after three days of siege by North Vietnamese forces. Four Hour Battle on Jordan River Front
United Press International reports Israel and Jordan engaged in four hours of heavy fighting along the Jordan River cease fire line.
