Funeral services for Emma Libby Shalla 96 of 11042 East Main Street Washington will be held at 1 30 p m Tuesday November 24 at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev Stanley Woeste officiating Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery She was born October 15 1868 in Washington County daughter of Anthony and Katherine Linheart Ko She married Joseph H Shalla on April 8 1895 She was a Methodist Church member and queen of the Three Quarter Century Club for three years Survived by two daughters Mrs Joe Knotek and Mrs Louis Reller Washington two grandchildren six great grandchildren preceded in death by her husband and one son

Highway 92 Opened Through Sigourney Area in Iowa
The Iowa State Highway Commission announced the opening of about eleven miles of improved Iowa 92 east into Sigourney, from west of the Mahaska Keokuk County line, with construction starting February 24, 1964 and a total project length of 10.592 miles costing 1,715,940 dollars. The work included grading, paving, widening to a 24 foot roadway, channelization of intersections with Iowa 21 and Iowa 108, multiple bridges over the Skunk River Cedar Creek and Rock Creek, thirteen new box culverts, and earth shoulders throughout the project. Planned reconstruction from Sigourney east is set for 1966.

Four persons were killed on Iowa highways Friday as a blizzard with winds up to 95 mph crippled travel statewide. An Iowan was electrocuted repairing transmission wires. another worker was hospitalized. The toll pushed the 1964 state total to 716, with several other crashes reported amid swirling snow and high winds. Ryan Dyk and his wife Jenny of Platte SD died in a crash near Cedar Rapids. Wanda Foster of Tipton injured. Olin Slemp of Davis City died near Leon after a two car crash at 69 and 2 highways. Joan Gordon of Iowa City died near Dubuque after colliding with a stock truck on 151. Truck driver Marvin Doden of Onstow unhurt. Harold Hamilton of Bedford electrocuted near Clarinda while assisting with lines during the blizzard. Dale Aaberg injured in Clarinda.
