Raymond Ann displays a huge timber wolf weighing 82 pounds, caught after his dogs chased and killed it near Anita. The wolf is the largest captured in the area in many years.
The Greene County Bankers Association will host a dinner meeting for more than 100 farmers in Jefferson. One speaker will be Frank Warner of Des Moines, secretary of the Iowa Bankers Association.
Jack Smith, a Missouri Valley truck operator, reported walking 20 paces and killing a sleeping coyote on a hillside near town after returning from Omaha. He struck the animal between the eyes with a rock.

A youthful hitch hiker who rode with William FP Conley of Des Molters from Osceola to Creston robbed him of 14 dollars after a warning conversation. The incident occurred in Creston as Conley stopped the car.
Des Moines officials announce Dr Marvin F Haygood of Atlanta Ga as deputy to Iowa state health commissioner Dr Walter L Bierring. Haygood replaces Dr F J Swift who resigned to lead the Iowa soldiers home at Marshalltown. Haygood’s salary is funded from federal social security health funds and he will expand public health work across Iowa districts and countries.
Iowa politics heated as Sen William Beardsley of New Virginia runs for president pro tempore and Sen Frank Byers of Cedar Rapids also seeks the post. Dems hold 28 22 Senate margin and House wary with Dewey Goode topping a list of 11 candidates for speaker as Democrats and Republicans vie for control and extra pay.

District Judge D T Maguire ruled Iowa's liquor law unconstitutional if aimed at preventing cross-border shipments. He dismissed the action by the state to confiscate an auto owned by John J Junewirth of East Dubuque, Ul.
Selda Alsle ben a nine year old farm girl from Glencoe Minnesota is described as a modern medical miracle believed to be the sole living Siamese twin in the United States. She was joined at the abdomen by a fibrous cord and separated at birth from her sister. One twin survived four months after birth and died from heart leakage leaving Selda as the sole surviving twin.
The third Washington County poultry show ends tonight with all exhibits to be removed by ten o'clock after four hours for exhibitors to reclaim their birds. Mrs. Fred Wagner and Red Downing report larger attendance than ever, noting improvements in poultry quality and strong participation from county farmers new to showing. A turkey charter is planned with the Washington County Poultry Breeders Association at the Y M C A next Monday evening.
More than 6500 travelers marooned in Honolulu since the maritime strike expect to depart next Monday on the Matson liner Monterey. Many face urgent appointments and dwindling funds as they seek escape from the island.
Des Moines Nov 21 Gov Ed C Johnson of Colorado recommended that Iowa Gov C L Herring grant a full pardon to Charles W Sorenson who escaped from the Iowa prison farm at Clive while parole lay on the warden s desk After a several day hearing Johnson informed Herring Sorenson has a record of good citizenship in Colorado and he favors clemency Sorenson who married after escaping in 1934 has work and a good record with his employer and friends He was sent to prison in Iowa for theft of a few bushels of grain If returned to Iowa he must serve the seven year sentence.
The Safety Council executive committee met in Legion rooms Thursday evening and completed articles of incorporation. It is expected to become an incorporated organization once filed with the county recorder. Plans discuss rotating regular meetings among county towns and submitting director nominations to local town leaders.
Mrs Julia Smith evangelist of A M E church will speak at Four Square Tabernacle next Monday evening. She and members of the colored people's church will sing, announced today by Pastor Rev W J Stevens.
A. B. Endicott, longtime banker in Brighton and Pomona, died Sunday at his Claremont home after years of ill health. He previously worked at Pomona Commercial & Savings bank and with Home-Builders' Loan Association. survived by widow Rose, son Paul, grandson John, and a sister and brother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Todd & Reeves chapel in Pomona.
An unofficial survey shows urban Iowa counties pay 9.28 million in traceable sales and income taxes for the year while receiving 5.75 million in three point refunds, a little under 62 percent of their contributions. Rural counties total refunds exceed their contributions, with Ringold County leading in refunds and Polk County showing high contributions relative to refunds. The three point refunds totaling 11.55 million were allocated to reduce county property taxes, with urban counties listed by name and refund figures.

Forrest Teppel and James Spurling were found guilty of stealing from a Florida liquor store and town hall in a winter 1930s case. The men were convicted of safe robbery in Fonda, Iowa, with the Florida tie noted as a misprint in the dispatch.
Ottumwa reports Dian Roquette aged 16 of Hedrick died from injuries after an automobile train crash. Her sister Dora Manning, also in Hedrick crash, is in critical condition. The state's 458rd automobile accident death of the year.
