In Hazleton Iowa 28 Amish children were transported to a public school by truancy officers after fleeing attempts at both Amish schools. Courts have charged the fathers with failure to send children to schools with certified teachers. fines stand at 24 dollars per charge.
Kenneth Dean said Rev. Donald A. Thompson, a 59 year old Unitarian minister and civil rights advocate who was wounded in an Aug 22 ambush, has left Jackson for New York after fearing new threats. Thompson resigned as MCHR board member and secretary treasurer and his local pastorate. He was shot in the back as he returned to his apartment after driving a Negro parishioner home and spent months in hospital and at home before returning to church on Nov 1.
Loren Levi Hinshaw 75 of Richland died this morning at Jefferson County Hospital Fairfield after a two day stay. He was a retail oil and feed businessman realtor auctioneer and farmer. Survived by wife Gertrude Shy two sons Kermit and Kevin seven grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at 1 30 pm Richland Friends Church conducted by Rev Harold Chute. Born May 24 1890 in Richland he attended local schools and Missouri Auction School and raised Standardbred horses. He was active in the Richland Friends Church.

Cy Dickinson 77 a well known farmer and stock man died suddenly this morning at Brighton likely from a heart attack. Funeral arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home. He was born August 4 1888 northwest of Brighton. He married Ethel Robertson in 1910 and Mada Pringle in 1928. Survived by his wife three children Ruth Elliott Merle Dickinson Glenn Dickinson and fifteen grandchildren.
Stacie Putman Hillhouse, 91, of 908 South Second Avenue, died Friday November 19 1965 in Washington County Hospital after months of ill health. Funeral Monday 2 pm at Jones Funeral Home with Rev Lee Alberts, burial Elm Grove Cemetery. Born October 23 1874 in Washington County to Jacob and Ellen Reeves Putman, she married P M Powelson December 19 1906. he died February 29 1928. In 1950 she married Alfred J Hillhouse, who died November 25 1952. She was the last of her father’s line. several cousins survive.

U S B52 bombers and fighter aircraft struck targets as the campaign near Ple Me reported at least 1 770 enemy killed since October 19. Westmoreland called the victory unprecedented while noting higher American casualties.

Washington UPI reports former Senate aide Robert G. Baker denied involvement in any effort to fund or back Juan Bosch’s return to the Dominican presidency. United Press International reports three Floyd County residents died in separate accidents Friday night and today as Iowa’s 1965 traffic toll reached 677. Herbert I Shook, 31, of Marble Rock, died from a skull fracture after a two car collision on U S 218 near Charles City.

Eighteen officer candidates from eleven clubs remain. Delegates meet at Hotel Fort Des Moines May 1 and 20 with Jim Houstman and Hubert Lehrer accompanying.
Acting Interior Minister Victor Nendaka said a pro Tshombe Belgian backed plot against the Congo government was quashed. Several suspects were arrested and four offices of the Belgian Military Assistance Group repossessed. Nendaka said the plotters included regular Belgian officers white mercenary soldiers business workers and airline missionaries.
