Brighton Chy Case Won By Johnson In City Court

Brighton city court heard several cases with A J Johnson winning the obstructing case after the judge split charges. Heacock vs T Pierce ended with exemption and half costs. Ireland vs Myers concerned wages for a Buffalo artist. Henderson vs Wilson resulted in default and judgment for sale of attached property.

Concert Master Max Bendix and Jennie Osborne Visit City

Washington defers to the music loving city with the Bendix Osborne company. Audiences totalled under three thousand but showed hearty appreciation for the artists. Bendix's playing drew comparison to Remenyi and Musin. Osborne’s voice impressed with clarity and volume. The piece recalls a recent Schumann concert at The Graham. If patronage lingers at this level future top ensembles may stop touring.

Demise of Hiram H Black in Washington IA

The first death in the city last night occurred at 11 o clock. Hiram Heaton Black born in Greene county Pennsylvania aged 78 years 7 months 15 days resided in Washington for nearly forty years. He married Mary Anne Morris in June 1841 and leaves five children. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p m at the family residence conducted by Rev TH R Stark with interment in the city cemetery.

Diamond Garment Cutter Co Opens Sewing School in Smouse's Hall

The Diamond Garment Cutter Co will open its sewing school at Smouse's Hall on Thursday at 2 30 p m with future sessions there. General manager J K Doran will lecture to ladies on sewing technique. Invitations go to all city ladies. Mr and Mrs Harmon and two daughters of Columbus Junction visit friends in the city.
