Poison suspect found dead in hotel room
William W. Cootes Jr. aged 40, accused of poisoning his aunt, was found dead Friday in a downtown San Francisco hotel room from an apparent sleeping pill overdose. He had been the subject of an FBI manhunt after charges in the case involving Mrs. Vanda Hoffinger, a 66 year old former dancer and ex wife of Paul Whiteman, with witnesses detailing visits to his aunt in 1963 and 1966.
