Whitney denounces Iowa tax system and plans suit
Des Moines. Iowa Democratic Chairman Tom Whitney, a Polk County supervisor, criticizes the state tax system and warns that if the Democratic legislature cannot pass tax reform it does not deserve to stay in office. He says Polk County will join a lawsuit challenging revenue director Gerald Bair's recent property tax revaluations, contending the orders favor industry and noting one industry saw an increase. Whitney urges other local governments to join the legal action.
