Tornadoes moved through rural areas near Washington Sunday night causing extensive damage to farms and mobile homes. One northwest and one southeast touched down at about 6 15 p m with power outages and damaged buildings including Jack Hamilton's Clubhouse. No serious injuries reported. several farms and a restaurant suffered damage and livestock were displaced.

Tornadoes devastate parts of East Iowa weekend
United Press International reports at least four tornadoes hit eastern Iowa as a storm system moved in from summer to winter. Deaths occurred in Van Buren and injuries in several counties while homes barns and the UNI dome suffered major damage. Debris and outbuildings were reported across Black Hawk Grundy and Washington counties and towns including Dewar Dunkerton and Selma faced destruction.
