The Washington High School Madrigal Singers along with Montezuma Madrigal Singers and Fairfield Chamber Singers will perform morning selections before breaking into groups to sing contemporary madrigals. Simpson College Madrigal Singers directed by Robert Larsen perform at 1 30 pm, followed by Sigourney Madrigal Singers. Hosts will be vocal music students. Jess Knight coordinates. Admission is 1 for students and ACDA members, 1 50 for non members.

Iowa City elects renewal backers and opponents
Voters split on the downtown urban renewal plan electing one anti renewal councilman and two pro renewal supporters. Top vote getter Doc Connell opposed the plan with 4,049 votes while Leroy Butherus and Clement Brandt, both pro renewal, won with 3,990 and 3,876 votes respectively. Other anti renewal candidates trailed by small margins. A temporary injunction against the $16 million project was issued by District Judge Claire E. Hamilton.

North Vietnamese attack in Central Highlands sparks heavy fighting
In the Central Highlands North Vietnamese forces attacked two U.S. infantry companies with rifles rockets and mortars as heavy fighting raged. US spokesmen said 26 Americans were killed and 62 wounded in the highland actions near Dak To where 5,000 guerrillas were fleeing after clashes that killed 156 North Vietnamese invaders. Aerial losses were reported with several jets shot down and crews missing or rescued.

United Press International reports Iowa will see generally fair conditions through Thursday. Warmer temperatures will move into the southern portion tonight, with cooler air and more pronounced cooling across the state on Thursday. Low temperatures range from 25 to 35 degrees and Thursday highs from 50 to 60 degrees, higher in the south.
