Storm dies in Iowa crash amid heavy snowstorm
A winter storm in Northwest Iowa caused at least one death. Mrs. Frank Carlson of Newell, about 65, died from injuries after a car crash near Storm Lake on Sunday evening. Her son Richard Carlson, 38, broke a leg. The pair were en route to Storm Lake to see a newborn grandchild.

Mrs. Curtis 93 Died. Last of Curtis Family in Clinton
Mrs. Charles F. Curtis aged 93 died in Clinton on Sunday. Born October 21, 1850 in LaSalle Wisconsin she came to Clinton eight years ago. She was active in the Town Colonial Domes D A R and the Mayflower society and knitted for soldiers through several wars until recently. Services are set for Tuesday.

Stewart School Pupils Turn In Keys in November Drive
Last Saturday marked the first day keys were turned in. Mrs Reid reports Stewart school pupils submitted 14 keys Lincoln 283 Junior high 241 high school 372. No other schools reported yet. Key drive runs this month with a box in Dr Reid's office on South Marion avenue for the remaining three Saturdays in November. Town pupils compete with rural pupils for prizes of two and one dollars in war stamps for the four highest.

Funeral of Mrs Phillips Today in Washington Church
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p m in Washington Baptist church for Mrs W A Phillips with burial in Elm Grove cemetery. She died Saturday evening at Washington county hospital after four weeks there and six months of illness. She was born November 18 1863 in Des Moines county Iowa and married William A Phillips June 25 1889. She was a charter member of Prairie Flower Baptist church and member of Fortnightly club and Journal’s Three Quarter Century club. Survived by four children Harry Pearl Clarence and Mrs Pert Eason ten grandchildren and two brothers.
