Former bank directors sued for 675000 in excess and improvident loans
Five former directors of the defunct First National Bank of Shenandoah and Shenandoah area, Thomas H and Elbert Read, J. AL. Gwynn, Henry Field, and Far Sheets, are named defendants in a 675000 suit by H. J. Spurway as receiver. A federal suit for about half that amount was filed in July 1926. Claude R. Porter of Des Moines is named special master. Thomas H and Elbert Read were recently acquitted on false return charges. Henry Read’s trial ended with a hung jury.
