Tuesday elections brought mixed results for H KR Smith of Dah Lonega township. At a Chamber of Commerce meeting last night, members voted to close Washington stores on two November holidays Armistice Day November 11 and Thanksgiving Day November 26.
The Washington County Poultry Breeders Association adds a quilt display to the poultry show at city hall from November 18 to 21. Wilson, claiming ballot errors, conducts his own fresh count and foresees a protracted fight. Official totals stood Kraschel 517728 to Wilson 515059 with two precincts missing.
W E Babb publicity manager for the Rock Island railroad traveled from Chicago to Washington county the turkey center of the world to secure photographs. He obtained consent from Ramseyer for images of the Ramseyer flock of 3800 at the Jake Wenger farm near the country club. Local photographer Carl Guther assisted and the photos were taken for delivery to Mr Babb.
Warren Marshall two years old of Winfield Iowa died in hospital after straying into the path of a tree being felled. Cloyce Rickey cutting the tree for Claude Pierce said children watched the fall and it went in an unintended direction.
Ed Conner, manager, moved the Gamble store inventory to a new site three doors south of Barclay's grocery in the former Chandler's cafe. The counters shelves displays and front were completed, restoring business with only one day lost in the move.
