Iowan Dies on Gallows For Murder
Joseph A. KR. Altringer, a 22 year old from Iowa, was executed for the murder of Earl Puller Jr. at Fort Madison. Browning plans new business complex in Highland Twp
Gshorte Browning outlined plans to build a store dance pavilion and cabins for motorists on primary roads No. 161 in Highland township near Goose Creek, a quarter mile north of Highland Center School. He aims to start within days, remodel an existing house for a store, and open the filling station within two weeks. The dance pavilion should be ready before Christmas, with fourteen cabins planned but only four this year. Initial investment is to be 6000 to 8000 dollars, with later plans to expand three or four times that amount. A dam and swimming pool are also planned and a name for the place will be advertised locally at Scott furniture store. John Dunbar, 65, died at his Brighton home at 2:40 this morning after years of poor health and a four week illness. Services will be held from his home Sunday. He was born on a farm north of Brighton and lived in the community most of his life before retiring in 1915 to town. Survived by his widow, Mrs Dora Cooper of Fairfield, twelve grandchildren, and brothers L. Dunbar and Oliver Wellston, with Mrs Rowers of Torrington.
