Drop beer sales charges by the Evening Journal

Health officials await swine flu vaccine arrival timing

Washington County public health officials have not received word on vaccine availability for local clinics. Nurse Mildred Lee anticipates clinics may be arranged late this month or in early December. Residents should contact their family physicians to schedule a regular flu shot appointment.

Birth of sextuplets in Naples ends with two infant deaths

Pasqualina Chianese, 26, gave birth to sextuplets at Naples Hospital of the Incurable. Doctors said two babies died shortly after birth while the other four were placed in incubators. The mother’s condition was listed as good.

A man wanted for the murder of a Fort Dodge woman and the wounding of another was arrested in a Waterloo tavern by police Thursday night. The arrest ends a week of pursuit as investigators identify the suspect and confirm charges are pending.

Rescue of 60-year-old woman overboard from Windsor Castle

Slight Rise in Iowa Unemployment in October

Iowa's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.1 percent in October from September, though still well below levels a year earlier. The Iowa Department of Job Service reported a 0.1 point advance from 6.4 percent in October 1975, with about 700 more unemployed on the rolls between September and October, while the unadjusted rate held at 3.8 percent.
