Water Committee consisting of ID. A. Ruughey A. Mason and C. H. Wilson will receive bids for excavating and filling a water main 1600 feet long on Sigourney Street. Specifications available at C. H. Wilson's office. Committee may reject any or all bids. Bids due Monday Nov 8 at 12 o'clock.
J Albert Conway of Memphis Missouri arrives in the city to locate here and offer instruction on piano organ flute cornet and harmony. He rooms with Mr Isenhart and will take pupils at home or in-studio. Also notes on a baby birth and local laundry services.
Latest reports show Iowa leaning Republican by around thirty thousand with a largely GOP legislature. Ohio Democrats concede victory to Republicans, who also claim a seven-seat Senate joint-ballot majority with Hanna. Maryland Massachusetts favor GOP while New York City tilts Democratic. Nebraska backs Democrats. Henry County grants Palmer a 74 vote edge, extending his overall lead to 555.
The November term opens next week with thirty-nine probate matters, seventy-five law and chancery filings, and nine criminal actions. Notable cases include Iowa v Hurley Mc Dowell burglary and Iowa v Samuel Wheeler drug intent. Other entries name Town of Brighton v A J Johnson appeal and several nuisance and larceny actions.

A traveling homeless man has dwelt on the right of way of the R. J. P. railway for months. By day he shops in town then returns to a makeshift box lodging at night. He claims to help with cattle and has money, despite repeated promises to leave, which the marshal says he has not yet fulfilled.
On November 1 and 2, scenes with music and sketches will feature Miss Birdie Crayne, a child pianist, and Miss Blanch Britton of Des Moines, lauded as a rising composer. Britton's Brownie March was popular at the State Fair and she is praised as the world’s youngest composer. W F Brinton will present travel sketches with fresh views from foreign lands including a Klondike tour. An entire program change occurs each evening.
Mr. Kitzwater narrowly escaped serious injury while driving to a voting place. A team approaching from the opposite side frightened his horses, broke the bridge bannister, and plunged into Main Creek with the buggy, though only one horse was badly hurt and the man escaped unharmed.
The Washington Sash and Door Co. promotes cabinet work prices in an ad. A social note reports the Alley Glee Club gathering at Miss Martha Samson's home on South Lowell last evening with games and conversation.
In Ainsworth a family feud erupts after a fight between Dick Flanigan and his stepson. Flanigan allegedly struck the stepchild with a bottle, was tried before Squire Spaulding, and held on $500 bond he could not post. Sheriff Teeter now faces new boarder inquiries as the grand jury action looms.
