John Dillon and his company presented Jolly Uncle Jolly at The Graham last night in a lively catch-on date show. Dillon impressed as in his prime while supporting players including the evening’s old man standout Mr LeCray. Also noted were local remarks on fashion and a brief business-like theatre mood from Campbell and Bowman.
Capital Special reports Shaw leads Iowa governor race with about 25 000 votes as results trickle in from 721 precincts. Republicans project statewide tallies around 230 000 to 200 000 for Democrats with minor third parties. Keokuk County sheriff race names Chas Latter the Republican winner by about 400 votes.
J G Kirkpatrick through attorneys sues the city for 1000 dollars and seeks an injunction to stop sewerage outflow into Crooked Creek. He asserts pollution harms his land near Stewart's and damages his water and air, claiming prior serenity and recent foul conditions. City council discussed the matter in private session and appointed defenders and a committee, with orders to address other nuisances.
Ohio voters deliver a solid win for the Republican governor candidate. The result signals strong party support with a notable margin across counties and urban areas alike.
