YMCA Announces Weekend Swim Lessons Series

The YMCA in Washington begins a new Saturday series on November 4 with two classes at 1 and 2 pm for beginners and advanced swimmers. The 10 lesson program runs through January 20, with Kirk Schmidt and Mary Pat Balk as instructors and signup by calling the YMCA.

Federal grant backs Old Capitol restoration in Iowa

Rep. Schwengel and Sen. Miller announced a 313 660 dollar HUD grant to Iowa for restoring the Old Capitol at the University of Iowa. The funds, usable only for renovation and construction, are available over four years with a matching drive aiming for a 900 000 dollar state total as part of a 1 150 000 dollar project planned for completion in 1976.

Crane Co expands Washington plant plans expansion and jobs

Crane Co moves to add 26 000 square feet storage and 7 000 square feet manufacturing space at its Washington plant doubling production capacity with a 60 percent rise in machines.
