St James Pupils Host Hallowe'en Party at School Gym
St James School pupils held a Hallowe'en party in the gymnasium on Friday starting at 1 30 pm. Pupils dressed as their patron saint and were joined by about 75 mothers and Father Lew. Seventh and eighth graders led the event with a marching parade and songs led by Sister Mary Editha. The gym was decorated in a seasonal theme and booths offered games with prizes. Home room mothers provided refreshments in the cafeteria.

Nine Youths Admit Vandalism At Broadlawns Hospital
DES MOINES UP I nine youths aged 10 to 14 confessed to police they helped vandalize the Broadlawns Contagious Hospital causing about 5000 in damage last weekend. Windows were broken furniture dumped stairs and railings ripped off. The building housed interns and families until July and is now equipment storage for Broadlawns General Hospital. All nine youths were referred to juvenile court.

Pleasant Plain Woman Dies Friday Evening
Pleasant Plain resident Addie Ethel Turner of East Pleasant Plain died Friday evening at Keokuk Hospital. Funeral services are set for Monday at 2 p.m. at the Friends Church with Rev. Laurane Sams officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery. Turner, born September 16, 1882 in Wilmstown, Missouri, was married July 23, 1902 to Jayton Turner and moved to East Pleasant Plain in 1906. Surviving are son Harry Turner. daughters Mrs Cecil Fallert of St Louis, Mrs Beulah Brinton, Mrs Beatrice McKee of Keokuk. two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one grandchild. She had been in good health until breaking her hip 12 weeks ago.

Scaffold Fall Injures Two Local Men in Iowa City
