The Ladies' Aid Society of the Christian church hosted a Decoration Day dinner and served meals with Prof. Stephens providing music. Gov. F. M. Drake attended the dinner and the event raised $40.50 for the society's treasury.
Mrs. R. T. McCall bought a fresh $1500 stock of millinery in this city. The line includes Leghorns Fancy Braid Panama Sailor Hats and ribbons. Stock will be sold at half price. sale ends in a week.
In the Ann Arbor Chicago University contest on Saturday Chas Burroughs defeated Ann Arbor’s top sprinter Thomas in the 100 yard dash with a time of ten and one fifth seconds. The crowd believes Burroughs could lead the way to Wefers, the crack American sprinter.
Dr Mary A Lake of Chicago with over twenty years of practice to give an illustrated lecture for ladies tomorrow at 2 30 pm at Thet Graham. Admission free all ladies invited. Topic Ideal Marriage and how to keep Young. Wilde and Son offer bicycle repairs by competent machinists. Mrs Malan left this morning for Chicago to visit Mrs Sarah Barney.
Governor Francis M. Drake of Iowa spoke to a large Washington crowd on Decoration Day. The ceremony featured Wayland Band performances, a flower strewn tribute at the soldiers circle, and remarks on liberty, national unity, and America as the world’s teacher in freedom.
